U.S. Trade Representative Seeks Data on Steel CO2 Intensity

In a letter to the U.S. International Trade Commission, Tai said the study would help inform negotiations between the U.S. and EU over the Global Arrangement on Sustainable Steel and Aluminum, an effort between the two to “address greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions intensity and global non-market excess capacity in these sectors.”

Tai asked that the study include data on Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions as well as certain Scope 3 emissions, those “associated with material and resource inputs for the production of steel and aluminum.”
