U.S. Trade Commission OKs Duties on Cold-Rolled Imports
09/02/2016 - The U.S. International Trade Commission has affirmed the imposition of anti-dumping duties on cold-rolled steel from four countries, but has declined to apply them to Russian imports.
In a ruling Friday, the commission agreed that domestic producers have been harmed by imports from Brazil, India, South Korea and the United Kingdom. Additionally, the commission found that Brazilian, Indian and South Korean producers have been benefitting from unfair subsidy programs and therefore will face additional countervailing duties.
However, they declined to impose duties on Russian imports, ruling that the amounts of cold-rolled steel coming from the country are negligible.
The case arises on a complaint filed last summer on behalf of AK Steel Corp., ArcelorMittal USA, Nucor Corp., Steel Dynamics Inc. and United States Steel Corp.
