U. S. Steel Wins Tax Break on Tin Mill Improvement
09/07/2017 - United States Steel Corp.’s Midwest Plant in Portage, Ind., USA, has won a five-year tax abatement on upgrades it is making to the facility’s tin mill.
According to The Times newspaper of northwest Indiana, the US$64 million project will improve quality and on-time deliveries.
"This will assist in strengthening our operations in northwest Indiana and revitalizing our product quality and delivery to be globally competitive in serving our customers," U. S. Steel spokeswoman Meghan Cox told the newspaper.
According to U. S. Steel, the project entails work to improve the structural condition of the tin line’s plating section.
