"Under Jeff's leadership, Range Resources shares many of the same values we have at United States Steel.  A commitment to protecting the environment, operating safely and engaging the communities where they operate are admirable qualities for any company," said Rintoul.  "Jeff has an unwavering commitment to the nation's energy industry. His perseverance and dedication led Range Resources to pioneer drilling in the Marcellus Shale, the largest natural gas field in the United States. Jeff is a true visionary, which makes him a perfect choice for the 2014 Chief Roughneck Award."

Jeffrey L. Ventura joined Range Resources in 2003 as chief operating officer, became a director in 2005 and was named chief executive officer effective 1 January 2012.  Prior to joining Range, he served as president and chief operating officer of Matador Petroleum Corporation.  Before joining Matador in 1997, Mr. Ventura spent eight years at Maxus Energy Corporation, where he managed various engineering, exploration and development operations and was responsible for coordination of engineering technology.  Prior to his time at Maxus, Mr. Ventura was with Tenneco Oil Exploration and Production, where he held various engineering and operating positions.  Mr. Ventura earned a bachelor's degree in petroleum and natural gas engineering from Pennsylvania State University.
