U. S. Steel Tubular Names Chief Roughneck Award Recipient

U. S. Steel Tubular Products, Inc. announced Diemer True, Founder and Chairman of the Diamond Companies of Wyoming, as the recipient of its Chief Roughneck Award for 2008.

Created in 1955 to honor the lifetime achievements of petroleum industry leaders, the prestigious Chief Roughneck Award is widely recognized as one of the industry's highest honors. True was presented with the coveted bronze bust and traditional hard hat by Joe Alvarado, President of U. S. Steel Tubular Products, who commended True for his commitment to the ideals represented by the award.

"Diemer True has been one of the energy industry's strongest advocates for many years," said Alvarado. "His dedication, perseverance, ingenuity, leadership and integrity in every situation remind us all of what it takes to be successful and ensure the continued growth and prosperity of our industry."

True formed the Diamond Companies with his sons, Kip and Kyle, after working with his father and brothers for 38 years in the Casper, Wyoming-based True Companies. He is also a former chairman of the Independent Petroleum Association of America, served in the Wyoming state legislature from 1972 to 1992, was chairman of the Wyoming Republican Party from 1993 to 1997, and has served as the Wyoming Republican National Committeeman since 1998. True is also well known in Wyoming as a rancher and a dedicated civic leader.

Diemer True’s father, H. A. "Dave" True was named Chief Roughneck in 1965. Diemer True is the second person to share the Chief Roughneck award with his father; H. L. Hunt (1966) and his son, Ray (2005), were the first father-son Chief Roughneck honorees.
