U. S. Steel Signs Tenova for Košice Investment

In a statement, Tenova said the order includes the furnace, strip handling and chemical processing equipment, and the associated electrical, instrumentation and control technology.

The company will be responsible for the engineering and the turnkey delivery of the equipment and will oversee commissioning.

“The customer chose Tenova LOI Thermprocess and the advanced Tenova technology as its partner for several reasons: The multiplicity of references for comparable facilities, the short realization time and the mathematical model were of crucial importance,” Tenova said in a statement.

U. S. Steel announced the project in January, saying that the US$130 million investment was meant to help it capture growing demand for non-oriented electrical steel.
