U.S. Steel Shipments up 6.5% M-o-M, Down 6.9% Y-o-Y
05/27/2013 - The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that for the month of March 2013, U.S. steel mills shipped 7,922,265 tons, a 6.5% increase from the previous month and a 6.9% decrease from March 2012.
The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that for the month of March 2013, U.S. steel mills shipped 7,922,265 tons, a 6.5% increase from the 7,436,388 tons shipped in the previous month, February 2013, and a 6.9% decrease from the 8,512,825 tons shipped in March 2012. Shipments year-to-date (YTD) in 2013 are 23,569,379 net tons, a 7.3% decrease vs. 2012 shipments of 25,418,100 tons for three months.
A comparison of March shipments to the previous month of February shows the following changes: hot rolled sheet, up 7%, hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip, up 2% and cold rolled sheet, no change.
