U.S. Steel Shipments Rose in March 2014
05/16/2014 - The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that for the month of March 2014, U.S. steel mills shipped 8,337,578 tons.
This was a 9.4% increase from the 7,618,380 tons shipped in the previous month, February 2014, and a 5.2% increase from the 7,922,265 tons shipped in March 2013. Shipments year-to-date in 2014 are 23,851,251 tons, a 1.2% increase vs. 2013 shipments of 23,569,379 tons for three months.
A comparison of March shipments to the previous month of February shows the following changes: hot rolled sheet, up 13%, cold rolled sheet, up 7% and hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip, up 6%.
