U. S. Steel Names General Manager-Logistics Services

United States Steel Corp. has named Gerald W. Gagliano as General Manager—Logistics Services, with responsibility for overseeing all outbound rail, barge and truck operations at U. S. Steel facilities in the United States and Canada.
 
In his new position, which takes effect July 1, Gagliano (55) will report to Thomas Kelly, managing director of transportation for U. S. Steel, and he will continue to be based in Pittsburgh.  
 
Gagliano has been with U. S. Steel since 1977, when he joined the company as a programmer in the systems & communications department in Pittsburgh. He advanced through increasingly responsible positions over the next 17 years in information technology, accounting, and invoicing and accounts receivable at the company's former Homestead Works and Duquesne Works, and its business services facility and Mon Valley Works near Pittsburgh.  
 
From 1994 to 2007, Gagliano progressed through a series of management roles in the marketing, customer service and sales organizations for tin mill products. He was named Director–Facility Marketing & Business Planning in 2007 before advancing to his most recent post, Director–Supply Chain Management in the company's Enterprise Resource Planning group, in 2009.
 
Gagliano earned a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics and physics from Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa., in 1977.
