10/26/2012 - U.S. Steel is laying off 40 hourly employees at its Lorain Tubular Operations in Ohio. Workers were informed yesterday afternoon and told the cuts were due to "business conditions," the Morning Journal reports.
U.S. Steel is laying off 40 hourly employees at its Lorain Tubular Operations in Ohio. Workers were informed yesterday afternoon and told the cuts were due to "business conditions."
"We continually review and analyze business conditions and the impact they have on our customers’ needs," said Courtney Boone, manager of public affairs for United States Steel Corporation. "As a result of business conditions, we are adjusting production at our Lorain Tubular Operations. This adjustment in production will impact approximately 40 hourly employees. The United Steelworkers have been notified. We cannot speculate on future business decisions at this time," according to her email statement. She decline to make further comment last night...
