U. S. Steel Investigating Incident at Edgar Thomson Plant
06/21/2016 - Firefighters were summoned to a fire at United States Steel Corp.’s Edgar Thomson plant on Monday evening, according to reports.
According to the Associated Press, two explosions and a fire were reported at the facility around 7:30 p.m. The plant is near Pittsburgh, Pa.
The company confirmed that there was an incident in the steelmaking area of the plant, but provided no details.
“Everyone in the area was able to safely evacuate and has been accounted for. We have begun an investigation to determine the root cause," a company spokeswoman said in a statement.
