U.S. Steel Imports Study Nearing Completion, Commerce Secretary Says
06/08/2017 - The U.S. Commerce Department soon will complete its review of whether steel imports pose a risk to national security, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said Thursday, according to the Reuters news service.
Ross also signaled that the study would support the imposition of new import restrictions, Reuters said.
At the behest of President Donald Trump, the Commerce Department launched the Section 232 review in April. The review is provided for under the Trade Expansion Act of 1962, which allows the president to restrict imports on national security concerns.
