U. S. Steel, Cleveland-Cliffs Seek Minnesota Iron Ore Leases
03/07/2023 - United States Steel Corporation and Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. are seeking public mineral leases that had been part of proposed mine and taconite pellet plant in Minnesota.
According to the Minneapolis (Minn.) Star Tribune, the leases, which had belonged to Mesabi Metallics before being terminated by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, cover approximately 2,600 acres in Minnesota’s Iron Range.
