U.S. Producers Claim Injury From Imported Large-Diameter Pipe
01/17/2018 - Members of the American Line Pipe Producers Association and other companies are accusing welded, large-diameter pipe manufacturers from six countries of undercutting domestic prices.
In a trade complaint filed Wednesday, the association said that producers in Canada, China, Greece, India, Korea and Turkey have been selling pipe at less than fair value, injuring their U.S. counterparts. The association is alleging dumping margins of between 23.5% and 138.6%. Additionally, the association said producers in China, India, Korea and Turkey are benefiting from unfair government subsidies.
“For years, our companies and workers have lost many large projects and massive amounts of sales to dumped and subsidized imports,” said John Stupp, president and chief executive of Stupp Corp., a member of the Line Pipe Producers. “It’s time to stand up for American manufacturing jobs and to take on these unfairly traded products.”
