U.S. Mill Places Order for H2 Electrolysis Equipment
01/21/2025 - Hydrogen electrolysis equipment maker Nel ASA has received a US$7 million order for two containerized electrolysis units from an unidentified U.S. steel mill.
According to Nel, the order, through its American subsidiary Nel Hydrogen US, is for two proton exchange membrane units of 2.5 MW each. The company said the units for are for a new mill being built by one of the largest U.S. producers.
The units will be manufactured at Nel’s manufacturing facility in Wallingford, Conn.
“We are delighted to receive a purchase order from an existing customer, as it signifies their satisfaction with the performance of our electrolyzers,” said Nel chief commercial officer Todd Cartwright.
“We continue to see an increasing demand for our containerized PEM electrolyzers for smaller installations as this reliable turnkey concept offers easy outdoor installation and operation,” he said.
