U.S. ITC Ruling Strikes Duties on Tin Mill Products
02/08/2024 - The U.S. International Trade Commission has rejected anti-dumping duties on tin mill products from several countries, finding that U.S. producers are not being harmed by imports from those places.
The decision halts the U.S. Commerce Department’s imposition of duties on tin mill products from Canada, China and Germany.
The commission also is stopping an antidumping duty investigation into tin mill imports from South Korea.
The case arose on a complaint from the United Steelworkers union and Cleveland-Cliffs Inc.
Cleveland-Cliffs said it was disappointed by the decision and believed it "clearly demonstrated material injury to the domestic industry and Steelworkers from dumped and subsidized imports of tin mill products," according to the Reuters news service.
