U.S. Agency Determines Imports Are Not Hurting U.S. Pipe and Tube Industry
11/15/2012 - The U.S. International Trade Commission determined that imports of circular welded carbon-quality steel pipe from a host of countries have not injured or do not threaten to injure the U.S. industry; as a result, no antidumping or countervailing duty orders will be issued on the imports.
The United States International Trade Commission (USITC) determined that the U.S. industry is not materially injured or threatened with material injury by reason of imports of circular welded carbon-quality steel pipe from India, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates that the U.S. Department of Commerce has determined are subsidized, and by imports from India, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam that Commerce has determined are sold in the U.S. at less than fair value.
Commissioners Daniel R. Pearson, Shara L. Aranoff, David S. Johanson, and Meredith Broadbent voted in the negative. Chairman Irving A. Williamson and Commissioner Dean A. Pinkert voted in the affirmative.
As a result of the USITC’s negative determinations, no antidumping or countervailing duty orders will be issued.
