U.S. Adds Two More Steel Products to Anti-Dumping Duty List
10/25/2016 - U.S. trade officials have made final determinations on two types of steel products from countries in the Middle East and Asia.
In one of the cases, the U.S. Commerce Department set final duties ranging from 5.6% to 113.2% on standard pipe from Oman, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates and Vietnam. And in the other case, the U.S. International Trade Commission affirmed that domestic producers had been harmed by dumped welded stainless pressure pipe from India.
The decision in the standard pipe case was announced Monday, and of the four countries, Vietnam faces the highest tariff – the department imposed a country-wide rate of 113.2%. However, two specific producers are facing lesser duties of 6.27%.
Additionally, the department imposed an anti-subsidy duty of 64.8 percent on Pakistani imports.
The case arose on a complaint last year from Bull Moose Tube Co., EXLTUBE, Wheatland Tube Co. and Western Tube & Conduit. Imported pipe from the four countries was valued at an estimated US$170.1 million in 2014.
The pressure pipe case stems from a complaint also filed last year by Bristol Metals, Felker Brothers Corp., Marcegaglia USA and Outokumpu Stainless USA. Imports from India amounted to about US$47.5 million in 2015, according to the commission.
All six commissioners voted in the affirmative. Their decision was announced Tuesday.
