Tyco Fire Protection Products Wins Two Awards at 2013 National Slag Association Conference
01/16/2014 - Tyco Fire Protection Products (TFPP) was recently recognized with two awards at the National Slag Association (NSA) Conference in San Diego, Calif. – Allied Member of the Year and Best Practices.
Only awarded to one company annually, the prestigious Allied Member of the Year award was given to TFPP for its work as an industry leader in total fire suppression solutions for the slag and metal processing industries. Leading ANSUL products in these industries include RED LINE cartridge-operated hand portable and wheeled extinguishers, skid units, and vehicle suppression systems such as LVS and A-101/LVS twin agent fire suppression systems.
“We worked directly with the slag market to create a custom vehicle fire school class that addressed the life safety needs specific to the industry,” said Kevin Siler, global business development manager, vehicle systems, Tyco Fire Protection Products. “This acknowledgement from NSA highlights our passion and dedication, as well as the benefits of continuing education.”
The NSA’s Best Practices award recognizes TFPP’s efforts with Tube City IMS, provider of onsite, industrial mill services for global steelmakers. TFPP helped the company standardize its vehicle fleet service across more than 70 locations globally by providing world-class portables education and training.
“At Tyco, we are committed to helping educate and train the steel industry on fire safety and best-in-class fire protection practices and technologies,” said Dave Beranek, territory manager, TFPP. “We are honored to receive these NSA awards that underscore our mission to provide holistic education and equipment to help protect the industry’s resources and investments.”
TFPP training seminars are available online via webinars and self-guided learning, or as live sessions. Private sessions can also be designed to provide relevant application procedures that highlight the needs and hazards of specific industries.
“Knowledge and experience is key when you have mere seconds to react to a hazard,” said Siler. “By providing training opportunities that give attendees hands on access to real world applications, we can help people be better prepared when critical decisions are necessary for life safety.”
NSA, a premier organization that promotes the use of blast furnace and steel furnace slag, strives to advance the use of slag as a sustainable alternative to natural resources.
