TXI Chaparral Steel Virginia received the Community Involvement Award during the All Star Awards ceremony held recently in Richmond, Va.
The All Star Awards were created by Workforce One and co-sponsored by the Richmond Human Resources Management Association to recognize and honor the stellar achievements of businesses that make a practice of building a world-class workforce.
The facility established a Community Involvement Committee to respond to requests for volunteerism and monetary donations. TXI supports the United Way; Virginia’s Partnership for Achieving Successful Schools; the Rotary Club; Petersburg, Colonial Heights and Virginia Chamber of Commerce and participates in local job fairs and trade shows. In addition, employees have participated in a variety of community events to include a river clean-up, annual holiday giveaways, tutoring, and participation on Fire and Rescue Squads.
TXI Chaparral Steel was also noted for being a good neighbor who listens to and responds to its neighbors’ concerns, frustrations and misconceptions.
