In a statement, PSIMetals said the upgraded MES will be used to manage steelmaking, hot rolling operations, inter-facility logistics, and quality assurance processes. Additionally, PSIMetals  will provide a midterm solution that will schedule the order book across the facility.

“The midterm scheduling solution, integrated in the MES, aims to increase the visibility and coordination between the casters and the hot strip mill. Thus, decision-making processes will be faster due to rapid optimized planning and scenario analysis capabilities,” the company said. 

Since 2011 Çolakoğlu has been using PSIMetals’ planning and caster scheduler and its planning and line scheduler for the hot strip mill. Upgrading to PSIMetals’ MES will allow for access to the latest features of the PSI technology platform and enable further digitalization of production and quality management processes, the company said.
