Tubemaker to Set Up Plant in Tennessee
02/09/2023 - Portugal’s MSS Steel Tubes SA has chosen Memphis, Tenn., as the home of its first U.S. plant, according to the Greater Memphis Chamber.
According to the regional chamber of commerce, the plant represents a US$6 million investment. MSS Steel Tubes is a joint venture of Brazil’s Soufer Group and Portugal’s Metalogalva – Irmãos Silvas S.A.
The chamber said the company is establishing a U.S. location to serve its domestic customer base of solar panel manufacturers.
"Because of its central location and distribution prowess, Memphis is expected to provide a more cost-effective and efficient way to meet and exceed both production and delivery times,” the chamber said.
“We are thrilled to open this new plant in Memphis subject to approval of local programs,” said Margarida Caetano, Metalogalva chief financial officer. “Our business is heavily reliant on quick, affordable, and reliable transportation, and no city fit our needs better than Memphis. This region is a destination of choice for manufacturers, and we’re excited to become part of the fabric of this community.
