Tubemaker Issues Final Acceptance on New Seamless Equipment

According to Danieli, the equipment supplier on the project, the plant installed a Danieli Centro Tube cross-rolling mill, a newly designed piece of equipment. The mill will allow the plant to roll carbon, alloy and high-alloy grades into tubes ranging from 244 to 711 mm in diameter.

Danieli said the mill was built, assembled and pre-tested at its headquarters workshops. Installation took place during an eight-week outage, which included demolition, excavation and erection.

“With the investment in a new cross-rolling mill here in Düsseldorf-Rath we want to specifically expand our product range in the direction of higher-quality premium materials with higher resistance to deformation, in particular in regard to alloyed and high-alloy materials. At the same time, we want to expand our dimension range, in particular in regard to thin-walled pipes and pipe lengths,” said Ulrich Menne, Vallourec Deutschland management board chairman.
