Tube City IMS Subsidiaries Achieve VCA, OHSAS 18001 Certification
09/25/2009 - Tube City IMS subsidiary facility in Gent, Belgium achieves VCA certification and its facility in Fos Sur Mer, France, achieves OHSAS 18001 certification.
Tube City IMS announced that its subsidiary's facility in Gent, Belgium, has achieved VCA certification and its facility in Fos Sur Mer, France, has achieved Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) 18001 certification.
"Achieving certification for our operations is extremely important for Tube City IMS, our teammates and our customers," said Raymond Kalouche, Chief Operating Officer of Tube City IMS. "Security, environmentally friendly business practices, workplace safety and creating value for our customers are paramount to the company's core values.”
VCA (VeiligheidsChecklist voor Aannemers) is a health, safety and environmental recognition for contractors. This certification is recognized by the Belgium government's Veritas Office for this type of certification.
OHSAS 18001 is a standard for having a comprehensive safety management system in place. The standards include five major elements: Environmental Health & Safety Policy; Planning; Implementation and Operation; Checking and Corrective Action; and Management Review.
