Trump's Trade Stance Worries Japanese Steelmakers
04/25/2017 - Japan Iron and Steel Federation chairman Kosei Shindo said the country’s steelmakers are concerned by what they said is U.S. President Donald Trump’s protectionism, reports the Reuters news service.
"We will need to closely watch his actual policies and negotiations," he told reporters during a news conference, according to Reuters.
His comment was in response to last week’s announcement that the U.S. Commerce Department had opened a special steel trade investigation under a little-used section of law. The law, a part of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962, allows the president to restrict imports on national security concerns.
