To Recruit and Retain Workers, U. S. Steel Sweetens Benefits Package
03/22/2019 - United States Steel Corporation is rolling out an enhanced benefits package for nonunion employees, offering up to eight weeks of paid parental leave, domestic partner health insurance coverage and extended bereavement leave.
“These benefits reflect our commitment to fostering a culture of caring at U. S. Steel, where every employee must feel supported,” said U. S. Steel senior vice president and chief human resources officer Barry Melnkovic.

The Pittsburgh (Pa.) Post-Gazette newspaper reported that the new benefits are part of an effort to attract new employees and to be more progressive.
“This is one of the ways we can differentiate ourselves, especially in the steel industry, which is so competitive,” Mike Williams, general manager of U. S. Steel’s total rewards and HR shared services, told the Post-Gazette.
