To Drive Sales, British Steel Invests in New Rail Facility
04/05/2017 - British Steel has opened a new long-rail logistics center in northern Italy to support sales in that country.
“This operation will enable us to enhance our ability to serve rail networks in Italy by providing a full range of high quality long length rail with just-in-time, and reliable, delivery anywhere in the country,” Peter Smith, British Steel’s managing director of rail, said in a statement.
“This is a significant investment by British Steel and underlines our commitment to helping customers across Italy improve the performance of their railways.”
British Steel, which was once Tata Steel’s European long products business, is an important supplier to Italian rail service Rete
Ferroviaria Italiana. It also is a big rail supplier to the United Kingdom and France.
“The Lecco logistics center is part of British Steel’s strategy to grow our business in Europe and further enhance our reputation as a supplier of world-class rail products.”
