Tisco to Extend Scope of Broner Scheduling and MES Solutions

Taiyuan Iron and Steel Ltd (Tisco) has awarded a new contract to Broner Metals Solutions to extend the scope of its existing Meltshop Scheduling and Control Solutions to support additional new equipment at its plant in TaiYuan City, in China’s ShanXi Province.

Tisco currently uses Broner’s Caster Scheduler and Melt Shop Control Centre for scheduling and management of the meltshop, and for improved visibility of the production process. These modules help the company to increase adherence to plans and achieve greater production visibility, reduce delivery times and improve the reliability of delivery dates.

The company initiated the new project in order to extend the capacity of its current Broner modules to accommodate the increased complexity introduced by the new equipment. The existing solution will be extended to take into account the new BOF converter, ladle furnace, and double-strand caster machine, which are expected to be in full production by 2010.

“We are pleased with the initial results produced by Caster Scheduler and Melt Shop Control Centre and have the experience of their implementation so we are 100% confident in a successful outcome of this project,” said Nie Jingfeng, Tisco Project Manager.
