Tin Mill Products Distributor Sold to Olympic Steel
04/04/2018 - Ohio-based service center Olympic Steel Inc. has acquired tin mill products processor and distributor Berlin Metals for an undisclosed amount, the company has announced.
"This acquisition adds new products and markets, both of which are central to our growth strategy," said Olympic Steel chairman and chief executive Michael Siegal. "Berlin Metals also has a growing stainless steel business, compounding our organic growth in these products. With minimal customer overlap, this is a perfect complement to existing operations."
Based in Hammond, Ind., Berlin Metals is a leading North American supplier of both tin mill products and stainless, slitted strip. It also supplies galvanized light-gauge cold sheet and strip. It has about US$50 million in annual sales, according to Olympic.
The all-cash deal includes four coil slitters housed at Berlin Metals’ 120,000 square foot facility in Hammond. The company will continue to operate under the Berlin Metals brand and the management team, including president Roy Berlin, will remain with the company.
