TimkenSteel Gains API Quality Management Certification
04/13/2017 - TimkenSteel has been awarded the American Petroleum Institute’s Q1 quality management certification and has been granted a license to apply the institute’s registered certification mark on certain products, the steelmaker has announced.
In a statement, TimkenSteel said the license allows it to apply the API 5CT certification mark on its alloyed seamless mechanical tube. The company said the mark will help show that the tube has been manufactured and tested to withstand the harsh oilfield environment.
"We were already a single point for material, heat treat, machining and testing. Now, with the API Q1 certification and 5CT licensing, our customers can purchase with even more confidence, knowing our products meet API's highest standards and don't require additional certification or auditing,” said Ray Fryan, TimkenSteel's vice president of technology and quality.
