Timken and Union Agree on Proposed Contract

The Timken Co. and the United Steel Workers (USW) Local 1123 announced they have reached agreement on a new four-year contract covering 2300 associates at the company's facilities in Canton, Ohio.
 
“Both the company and the union worked hard toward a contract that is good for our customers, our associates and the community," said Sal Miraglia, president of Timken’s Steel Group.
 
The current contract has been extended until October 31, 2009 to allow time for a ratification vote later this month.
 
Timken provides innovative friction management and power transmission products and services. With operations in 26 countries, Timken reported sales of $5.7 billion in 2008.
