ThyssenKrupp Steel USA to Temporarily Shut Down Production Due to Tropical Storm

ThyssenKrupp Steel USA in Calvert, Ala., said it will shut down operations by 6 p.m. on 27 August 2012 due to Tropical storm Isaac.

The company said employees that reside in Zones 1 and 2 in Mobile and Baldwin counties who did not report to work today or need to leave due to the mandatory evacuation, may do so. All other employees should plan to work their normal schedules through 6:00 p.m. unless involved with storm preparation activities, said company spokesman Scott Posey.

Business and operations at the plant is expected to resume at 6:00 a.m., Thursday, according to Posey.

ThyssenKrupp officials said employees scheduled to work during the closure and those unable to work due to mandatory evacuations will be paid.

Posey said employees should continue to monitor their emails and the company’s hotline over the next two days.
