ThyssenKrupp Stahl-Service-Center Earns EN ISO 14001 Certification

This past summer TÜV NORD conducted the first official environmental audit at ThyssenKrupp Stahl-Service-Center’s new Krefeld site and its Radebeul branch near Dresden. Together with its Mannheim branch, which was previously audited, ThyssenKrupp Stahl-Service-Center has now been awarded the EN ISO 14001 certification for its environmental management system.

“This represents a sustainable commitment to our environment,” said Dr. Gerd Gränzdörffer, responsible for quality and environmental management at ThyssenKrupp Stahl-Service-Center. “Certification requires us to undergo regular internal and external audits to assess whether we are meeting the requirements of this standard.”

The environmental policy calls for checks to be carried out on all production processes to ensure they are eco-friendly and identify potential for improvement. Required resources are systematically recorded, and waste materials are separated and properly disposed of.

“We have appointed responsible officers who receive regular environmental training,” said Gränzdörffer. The company keeps its own register of environmental legislation applying to production operations, which it checks every year to ensure it is up to date. Service providers and suppliers are also required to comply with these environmental standards.

In addition to the German branches, the European network of the ThyssenKrupp Stahl-Service-Center group includes locations in France, Spain, Portugal, and Poland. As well as producing slit strip and blanks to customer specifications, services also include customized logistics, IT, and inventory management solutions.
