ThyssenKrupp Nirosta to Increase Capacity at Ebor Stainless Facility

Ebor Edelstahl GmbH, Germany, a subsidiary of ThyssenKrupp Nirosta GmbH, will expand capacity with a new 2,800 square meter shop complex, as well as office and social facilities, in the Holderbüschle industrial park close to its existing buildings.

The new facilities will include a grinding and brushing line for high-quality ground finishes, a cut-to-length line to cut sheets of different sizes from stainless steel strip, as well as two 15-ton cranes for material handling. Work on the 7 million euro investment will start in January 2005 and is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of the coming year.

Founded in 1982, Ebor Edelstahl GmbH, Sachsenheim, Germany, is a stainless steel service center with warehouse. In addition to the slitting and cutting to length of stainless steel strip and sheet, the company has special expertise in the production of high-quality stainless steel finishes, in particular ground finishes. In fiscal 2003/2004 its 70 employees sold some 20,000 metric tons of stainless steel, generating sales of around 49 million euros.

By specializing in high-quality finishes, Ebor Edelstahl has developed into an important supplier to the appliance, tank and chemical process equipment industries. At the beginning of 2002, Ebor Edelstahl was integrated in the ThyssenKrupp Nirosta group. Krefeld-based ThyssenKrupp Nirosta GmbH is one of Europe’s biggest manufacturers of flat-rolled stainless products with a production volume of 1.2 million tons, sales of 2.1 billion euros and 4,300 employees.
