ThyssenKrupp Nirosta to Change
Alloy Surcharge Calculation

April 3, 2004 — Effective May 01, 2004, ThyssenKrupp Nirosta GmbH, Krefeld, is adding a scrap component to the formula it uses to calculate alloy surcharges.

The adjustment is necessary due to the drastic rise in scrap prices that has taken place since 2003 – a trend that has intensified once again in recent months. The alloy surcharge formula has been changed to at least partially offset the considerable cost increases associated with this.

ThyssenKrupp Nirosta will publish its alloy surcharges for May 2004 on its website from April 07, 2004. The surcharges, which depend on alloying element content, vary from grade to grade.

Based in Krefeld, ThyssenKrupp Nirosta GmbH produces flat-rolled products of stainless and heat-resistant steels. With production of around 1.2 million tonnes a year and annual sales of around 1,700 million euros, it ranks among the leading manufacturers in Europe.
