thyssenkrupp Chairman Steps Down From Company
07/16/2018 - thyssenkrupp AG chairman Ulrich Lehner has resigned from the company, just two weeks after the departure of CEO Heinrich Hiesinger.
Both resignations come at the heels of the company’s agreement to merge with Tata Steel’s European operations, a venture that has been in negotiations for the past two years.
“I take this step consciously to enable a fundamental discussion with our shareholders on the future of thyssenkrupp. My decision may contribute to creating the necessary awareness with all concerned parties that a break-up of the company and the related loss of many jobs is not an option – neither in the interest of the founder, nor in the interest of the country,” Lehner said in a statement provided by the company.
