thyssenkrupp Awards Danieli Contract for Slab Storage Yard
03/29/2022 - The fully automatic slab storage yard will be installed at thyssenkrupp Steel’s Duisburg-Bruckhausen, Germany, facility, according to a press release from Danieli.
The package will provide real-time synchronization of approximately 1.7 million tons of slabs per year. The new warehouse management system will feature real-time calculation of slab distribution from different sources and will optimize crane movements. No staff will be required on the ground.
Danieli will supply four fully automatic slab cranes and two 2,000-ton-capcity holding furnaces that will maintain slab temperature, and will construct and install the structural steelwork.
Danieli said the installation will take place in two phases. The first phase will include four cranes and crane runways to be commissioned by late 2022 or early 2023, and the second phase will comprise the entire slab storage yard, including the two holding furnaces. The second phase will be commissioned by mid-2023.
