This Is How It Ended for an Ohio Galvanizing Steel Mill
11/04/2016 - Auctioneers liquidated an Ohio galvanizing plant on Thursday, selling off equipment for pennies on the dollar.
Galvanizing equipment, slittting lines, forklifts, generators and a variety of other equipment that once belonged to RG Steel were all on the sales block during the auction, which took place Thursday at the Martin’s Ferry facility.
The auction drew bargain hunters as well people who had once worked at the plant, which once had been a part of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel.
“It’s very sad to see it all bid off,” Jeff Ware, a millwirght who had worked at the facility for more than 20 years, told The (Wheeling, W.Va.) Intelligencer newspaper. “We hoped one day they would fire this back up … This is just proof that it will never start again.”
