'There's a Lot of Pride Here': JSW Mingo Junction Looks For Success as It Ramps Up
03/21/2019 - At JSW Steel’s restarted mill in Mingo Junction, Ohio, USA, veteran operators, who thought they’d never see the facility run again, are again making steel – and coaching the next generation. At the same time, they’re restoring some hope to the blue-collar town.
“There’s a lot of pride here,” said casting supervisor Jim McCormick, who left the plant when it closed in 2008. “This is our lifeblood. We want to see it run,” he told the Pittsburgh (Pa.) Post-Gazette newspaper, which recently reported on JSW’s progress at the former Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel facility.
