Texas HBI Plant to Ramp Up to Full Production By Year's End, voestalpine Says
11/09/2016 - voestalpine's new direct reduction plant in Corpus Christi, Texas, is expected to be at full production by the end of the year and will begin regular shipments to customers, the company has said.
voestalpine formally opened the hot briquetted iron plant in October. It is capable of producing 2 million tons annually. About 40 percent of its output is destined for voestalpine's overseas mill. The remainder is under contract to other steel producers.
voestalpine said the first Europe-bound shipment will leave the plant's deep-sea port by the end of 2016.
