Tenova to Modernize and Restart 20-High Cold Rolling Mill
04/02/2025 - Italian industrial group Marcegaglia has awarded Tenova with a contract to modernize and restart its 20-high cold rolling mill at its Gazoldo degli Ippoliti plant in Mantua, Italy.
According to a press release, Tenova will integrate advanced automation, a next-generation human-machine interface and machine learning applications. They estimate this will enhance production capacity and expand the product range.
Tenova will also provide its advanced roll cluster configurator, which automatically determines the best roll sizes for different rolling configurations to increase efficiency of roll management. It will also feature a vibration monitoring system for better process stability and control.
“The integration of advanced automation systems and artificial intelligence will optimize Marcegaglia’s mill performance, ensuring production efficiency and operational flexibility,” said Leonardo Frascino, head of cold rolling product line at Tenova.
