Tenova TAKRAF to Expand SUEK Coal Export Terminal
03/11/2011 - Tenova TAKRAF and Siberian Coal Energy Company have signed a contract for the expansion and upgrading of the SUEK owned coal export terminal Vanino in Russia.
Tenova TAKRAF and Siberian Coal Energy Company (SUEK) signed a contract on March 4 for the expansion and upgrading of the SUEK owned coal export terminal Vanino, Russia.
The contract comprises expansion of the terminal’s storage capacity by 230,000 tonnes. The new equipment will have an operating capacity of 4,300 tonnes/hour. The existing terminal equipment also will be upgraded to operate at a capacity of 4,300 tonnes/hour in the future.
With the coal export terminal upgrade and expansion, SUEK expects to increase Vanino’s annual handling capacity from the current 12 million tonnes up to 24 million tonnes.
The Euler-Hermes Credit Insurance issued the provisional cover note for the Vanino II project on March 3, 2011, thus assuring sourcing for the project for a period of ten years after commissioning.
The contract signing in Moscow was attended by Vladimir Rashevsky (CEO, SUEK), Vladimir Artemiev (VP, SUEK), Sergey Grigoryev (VP, SUEK), Walter Küng (CEO, TAKRAF GmbH) and Nils Scharfenberg (VP Sales, TAKRAF GmbH).
