Two Tenova TAKRAF TSM 300 surface miners supplied to HWE Mining Pty Ltd. have been released for production at the Yandi Iron Ore Mine in Western Australia. During the initial startup and training period, the cutting capacity averaged from 480 to 1110 tonnes per hour depending on the material's compressive strength.
The TSM 300 features a front cutting drum with direct twin drive, which allows for a cutting depth of 800 mm. Due to its top down cutting, the TSM 300 is said to consistently produce a small product size, without additional crushing, thus eliminating processing steps. Its standard features include an operator cabin with two full-size access ways and a trainer seat, as well as an onboard machine monitoring and diagnostic system with full-size screen and text messaging for easy control and adjustment of machine parameters.
The machine is driven by a Cat C32 ACERT engine, which is EPA Tier II Non Road certified.
For the application in Australia, the TSM 300 also features an integrated falling objects protection structure (FOPS) and rollover protection structure (ROPS), and the operator cabin is equipped with dual air-conditioning. Service centers at ground level enable fast and safe refueling, water tank filling, and oil change.
