Tenova Supplies Consteel EAF to Jiangsu Heavy Industry
04/30/2012 - Tenova achieved the first heat of the melting unit for MCC Beris Jiangsu Heavy Industry Corp. - Feida Group in China: a medium and heavy plate casting-rolling production line. The technology combines Tenova electric arc furnace and Consteel® with other technologies from Beris.
Tenova achieved the first heat of the melting unit for MCC Beris Jiangsu Heavy Industry Corp. - Feida Group in China: a medium and heavy plate casting-rolling production line. The technology combines Tenova electric arc furnace (EAF) and Consteel® with other technologies from Beris.
The plant is located in Jiangsu province, an industrial area near Shanghai. It is equipped with a Consteel system and a 250 tonnes-per-hour EAF feeding a continuous casting unit for slab production. Nominal tapping capacity is 220 tonnes and maximum liquid steel capacity is 360 tonnes. It is also equipped with an EAF transformer manufactured in China, rated 140 MVA.
The production capacity is 1.8 million tonnes, with the capability of producing what the company claims is the thickest slab ever made in China. Since 1997, Tenova has installed 11 Consteel systems in China, out of 40 installations in the world.
