Tenova Sees Growing EAF Market in China

In a statement, Tenova said the contracts are evidence that the country’s steelmakers are moving away from the blast furnace-basic oxygen furnace route and toward electric arc furnace production as a way to curb carbon dioxide emissions.

“The awarding of the ... contracts underlined the recognized advantages for this technology that, in terms of steelmaking from scrap, allows savings in electrical consumption, high productivity and high-quality steel, and protection of the environment and safety,” the company said in a statement.
