Tenova Meltshop at Ishvesk Starts Up
09/27/2010 - The new Tenova Melting complex located at Izhevsk steelworks in Udmurtia Republic, Russia, was started up on September 7. Tenova’s contract covered a full-scale upgrading of the meltshop n°23 of Izhstal OAO plant, owned by the Mechel group.
The new Tenova Melting complex located at Izhevsk steelworks in Udmurtia Republic, Russia, was started up on September 7 in the presence of the Russian Prime Minister, Mr. Putin.
Tenova’s contract covered a full-scale upgrading of the meltshop n°23 of Izhstal OAO plant, owned by the Mechel group, one of Russia’s top mining and metals companies.
Tenova supplied a new electric arc furnace (EAF), Ladle Furnace (LF), and a vacuum degassing station. The EAF will provide a capacity of 40 tonnes. Tenova will also provide the auxiliaries plant such as the fume dedusting system, water treatment plant, and the ferroalloy plant.
The revamping will enable Izhstal to boost production by 4.6 times and to produce a range of special and stainless steels. The annual output of the production line supplied by Tenova is expected to reach 300,000 tonnes of alloy steel with a low carbon content, alloys and stainless steel.
