Tenova I2S to Supply Temper Mill for Olympic Steel’s new Gary Plant
12/20/2010 - Tenova I2S will supply to supply a Four-High Temper Mill at Olympic Steel’s planned new site at U.S. Steel’s Gary Works plant in Gary, Ind.
Tenova I2S recently signed a contract with Olympic Steel, Inc. to supply a 444 and 1067 x 2134-mm 4-High Temper Mill at the company’s planned new site at U.S. Steel’s Gary Works plant in Gary, Ind.
The new mill will be the third temper mill Tenova I2S has supplied to Olympic Steel. The first two temper mills, which have been in operation for over a decade, are located at the company’s facilities in Cleveland, Ohio, and Bettendorf, Iowa.
The new Tenova I2S Mill will be placed in a cut-to-length line that will produce over 150,000 tons per year of high-quality tempered sheet. The new mill is equipped with the latest automation and control systems, as well as Tenova I2S Automatic Elongation Control (AEC) and I2S Thickness Gauges. The new temper mill will allow Olympic Steel to produce high quality sheet steel from 1.0 to 10.0 mm thick and 610 to 1900 mm wide.
