Tenova I2S to Supply New 20 High Reversing Cold Rolling Mill for Posco AST
02/29/2012 - Tenova I2S has signed a contract with Posco AST to supply a new ZR22STG-52-inch precision 20-High Cluster Mill at the company’s site at Ansan, Korea. The company plans to produce 30,000 tonnes of stainless and bright annealed steel per year at this new facility.

The 20 High Cluster Mill is equipped with the new Tenova I2S Super Thin Gauge (STG) technology. Tenova notes that two key parameters in producing precision flat product are edge position of the strip and maintaining consistent stresses in the build of the coil. By combining a precision method of achieving the desired control in these areas together with a roll gap control of 0.05 µm, the Automatic Flatness Control (AFC) is optimized in the super thin gauge thickness range.
The mill is equipped with fully integrated control, automation, and drive systems featuring Automatic Gauge Control, AFC, Tenova I2S thickness gauges, remote monitoring and diagnostics, and ac drives.
The new mill will produce precision stainless and bright annealed steel strip from 2.0 to 0.07 mm thick, at a maximum width of 1300 mm, at speeds of up to 600 meters per minute.
