Tenova I2S Cluster Mill Commissioned in U.S.
02/04/2010 - Tenova I2S has commissioned a new ZR33-22” mill at MK Metalfoils USA in Duncan, S.C. MK Metalfoils runs stainless steels and special materials (e.g., nickel and nickel alloys, catalyst foils, titanium) in thicknesses down to 0.020 mm.
Tenova I2S has commissioned a new ZR33-22” mill at MK Metalfoils USA in Duncan, S.C.
MK Metalfoils is a division of MK Metallfolien GmbH of Hagen, Germany. Both divisions run stainless steels and special materials (e.g., nickel and nickel alloys, catalyst foils, titanium) in thicknesses down to 0.020 mm.
The new mill is equipped with ac drives, solid block winders, wind-on/off stations, dynamic crown adjustment, Tenova I2S gamma thickness gauges, and the latest automation and controls systems that allow the mill to produce thin strip foils at operating speeds of 500 meters per minute.
As with its Tenova I2S-built sister mill in Germany, the new I2S ZR33-22” mill has remote diagnostic capabilities via the Internet. The South Carolina plant has an Ethernet plant wide network, and downloads the Pass Schedule information directly to the mill.
The Tenova I2S control system automatically sets all of the operating parameters for the desired material, stepping down through the schedule as each pass is completed until the final desired thickness is reached. The company says that this process insures both the precision thickness of the material and its metallurgical properties.
Tenova I2S has extensive experience in cold rolling mills. Tenova designs and supplies advanced technologies, products, and services for the metal and mining industries. It operates through a network of 33 companies based on five continents.
