V&M Star has contracted Tenova Core to design and supply two pipe heat treating furnaces for the company’s Youngstown, Ohio, facility.
The furnaces will be installed as part of a major plant expansion project at the Youngstown plant, which supplies the booming domestic shale gas market. The facility will use the hydraulically actuated walking beam furnaces for hardening and tempering heat treatment applications. The furnaces will have a maximum hourly output of 54 tons.
The furnaces will feature state-of-the-art combustion systems and advanced process control systems. The combustion system boasts a reduced carbon footprint thanks to low-NOx burners and the ability to use preheated air. The process control system will be designed to ensure product uniformity.
Installation is scheduled to take place in 2011.
